TITLE

Topological Data Analytics for AI Pipelines

PRESENTER

Prof. Ibrahim Elfadel, Khalifa University, UAE

DESCRIPTION

In these lectures, I will adopt a data analytics perspective to give an introduction to some of the fundamental concepts of computational algebraic topology, including simplicial complexes, homological algebra, and persistence homology, and how they are used to make sense of the shape of point cloud data. I will give several examples illustrating how these concepts have been successfully applied to problems of practical importance in the fields of networking, logistics, computer vision, and medical imaging, among many others. The lectures will include software demos illustrating how the seemingly abstract concepts of Algebraic Topology have been turned into practical tools for data analytics within standard AI pipelines for Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing. Finally, I will highlight some of the promising research directions for integrating Topological Data Analytics within AI hardware acceleration paradigms.
